Refunds during Covid-19 Pandemic
We are doing our best to manage arrangements for clients whose holiday bookings have been affected by the current coronavirus pandemic. We are managing bookings on a rolling basis by departure date, so please do be patient. Wæe will be in touch with you as soon as possible. These terms are on top of our normal booking conditions and are prepared with the aim of informing our clients during the coronavirus pandemic.
1 Cash Refunds
Turika is not in a position to pay clients a cash refund at this moment. We have not yet received money back from hotels, airlines and other suppliers affected by the crisis. Forcing them to do so would put many of them out of business, which would mean customers would not get their money back for many more months as the Government-backed ATOL scheme of financial protection could not cope with the sheer volume of refunds. It would also result in significant long-term damage to the UK travel industry.
2 Refund Credit Notes
Turika is fully committed to offer full refunds as refund credit notes for all clients whose holiday bookings have been affected by the current coronavirus pandemic. We have sent refund credits notes for all clients due to depart until 31 May 2020 and will continue to process more as the situation becomes clearer for 1 June 2020 onwards. Refund Credit Note is a scheme fully supported by ABTA, a UK travel trade association for tour operators and travel agents. It acts as an alternative to cash refunds during Covid-19 pandemic and would provide travel businesses with vital breathing space, whilst ensuring all consumer protections are carried forward. ABTA also sees it is a vital step to support consumer confidence in the travel industry.
3 Using Refund Credit Notes
Turika clients can use their refund credit notes any time until 31 December 2021 for any holiday part such as flights, hotels, holiday villas, airport transfers, car hire and tours. These refund credit notes are transferable and this can be discussed with our reservations manager.
4 Getting Cash Refunds with Refund Credit Notes
Should you decide not to use refund credit notes during 2020, Turika is fully committed to offer cash refunds no later than 31 March 2021. We aim to begin offering clients a cash refund as soon as possible, probably sooner than this date. A processing fee of £100 will be deducted.
