Located at the relaxing Hotel Sempati in Lapta, situated to the west of the main coastal town of Kyrenia, this PADI 5-star centre provides the best of diving in this incredible resort. The Turtle Bay dive team will ensure your dive holiday is a memorable one. They cater for novice and experienced divers alike, assuring you of the best attention and safety at all times.
A full range of PADI courses are available, ranging from ‘Discover Scuba’ to ‘Divemaster’ and specialist courses. For the more experienced divers, various trips are available, including the world famous Zenobia wreck off the northern coast of Cyprus. Trips are offered throughout the year and from April to October, daily diving is available to a variety of sites from Turtle Bay’s custom-built 6.5 metre rib. Diving is twice per day, with early morning options and night diving also available. All the dive sites are a maximum of 10 minutes by boat. During the winter months, shore diving is available with the occasional boat dive, depending on weather conditions.
Diving with the Turtle Bay Dive Centre provides some of the best sites in the Eastern Mediterranean. Marine life is plentiful and varied, including migratory Red Sea species alongside the assorted grouper, sea bass, sea bream, barracuda, damsel, octopus, amberjacks, stingrays and moray. The area is also famed for its marine turtles, and there are protected nesting sites on the island’s coast. Green and rare loggerhead turtles hatch here and are a common sight for divers, along with leatherheads. The ancient history of the area is also reflected underwater, with discoveries of various artefacts including amphora.
The position of North Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean is of great importance for the underwater environment. The island benefits from the currents running along the Egyptian coast across the opening of the Suez canal into the Mediterranean. This has pushed the migration of marine life from the Red Sea to the clean and hospitable waters of Northern Cyprus and the more you dive the waters here, the more you will be surprised at the variety of marine life that has become well established in this area.
